Brooke Henderson in contention at the 2024 Chevron Championship

Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario is in contention at the 2024 Chevron Championship in Woodlands, Texas. The two-time major champion is one stroke back of the leader after the third round of the first major of the season.

Henderson is currently at ten-under-par. Hae Ran Ryu of South Korea is the leader at -11. Henderson is tied with American and world number one Nelly Korda of the United States for second place. There is then a three-way tie for fourth place at -8. There you can find Sweden’s Maja Stark, South Korea’s Jin Hee Im, and Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul.

Henderson’s best round to date was the third round. The 26-year-old shot a third round score of -8 and moved up 19 spots from 21st place on the leaderboard to second. In third round action Henderson had seven birdies, one eagle and one bogey. She eagled the eighth hole, birdied the fourth, seventh, ninth, 10th, 11th, 13th and 14th holes, and bogeyed the 16th hole.

In round one and round two, Henderson was one-under-par. On Thursday, she had three birdies and two bogeys. Henderson birdied the fourth, eighth, and 16th holes, and bogeyed the ninth and 18th holes. On Friday, she once again had three birdies and two bogeys. This time, Henderson birdied the 11th, 13th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the sixth and 12th holes.

Henderson’s major titles came at the 2016 Women’s PGA Championship and the 2022 Evian Championship. The only other major winner in contention is Korda, who won the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship winner.
