
Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario is in contention at the 2022 Evian Championship in Evian-les-Bains, France. In the fourth major of the year in women’s golf, Henderson is tied for second place with Nelly Korda of the United States at -7. The leader is Ayaka Furue of Japan, who is at -8.
There are six more golfers in contention. American Cheyenne Knight is in fourth place at -6. Meanwhile, five golfers are at -5. There you can find Yuna Nishimura of Japan, Charley Hull of England, Jin Young Ko of South Korea, Lydia Ko of New Zealand, and Perrine Delacour of France.
Of the nine golfers in contention, Henderson, Korda, Jin Young Ko and Lydia Ko are major champions. Henderson won the 2016 Women’s PGA Championship, Nelly Korda won the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship, Jin Young Ko won the 2019 ANA Inspiration and the 2019 Evian Masters, and Lydia Ko won the 2015 Evian Masters and the 2016 ANA Inspiration
On Thursday, Henderson had birdies on the first three holes, fifth, 10th and 11th holes. She also got an eagle on the ninth, and bogey on the eighth. Henderson actually ended her round with an eagle to finish her day at -7, as she started on the 10th hole. She will now be among the last tee off on Friday.
