It was an historic night at the 2025 Montana’s Brier in Kelowna, British Columbia on Sunday. That is because Alberta’s Brad Jacobs set the Brier record for most points in a single 10-end game with 20. He accomplished the feat in a 20-2 win over a North West Territories team skipped by Aaron Bartling of Hay River.

Jacobs had three points in the first end, four points in the third end, five points in the fourth end, one point in the fifth end, two points in the sixth end, and five points in the eighth end. Of Jacobs’s 20 points in the game, eight points came off of steals. Bartling was forced to take one point in the hammer in the second and seventh ends.

The previous record for most points in a single 10-end game at the Brier was on March 7, 2022. That is when Mike McEwen of Winnipeg, Manitoba clobbered Nunavut 18-1. Like Jacobs, McEwen scored five points in the eighth end. It should be noted that 10 end curling games have only been around since 1980. Prior to that games were 12 ends.

Jacobs now has a record of two wins and zero losses. There are four other teams at 3-0. They are Manitoba’s Reid Carruthers and Matt Dunstone, Team Canada’s Brad Gushue and McEwen, who is now representing Saskatchewan.
