
The Toronto Blue Jays delivered their second blowout win in a week on Saturday. After trouncing the Boston Red Sox by a score of 8-1 on Wednesday at Toronto’s Rogers Centre, the Blue Jays clobbered the Minnesota Twins 11-4 on Saturday.
The Blue Jays were actually trailing the Twins 4-3 after seven innings, when they exploded for eight runs in the eighth inning to take control of the baseball game. It was the second time this season the Blue Jays scored eight runs in a single inning. Toronto also scored eight runs in the first inning in a 10-4 Blue Jays win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 19.
In Toronto’s win over Minnesota on Saturday, four Blue Jays hit a home run. They came from right fielder Myles Straw, second baseman Lenyn Sosa, catcher Brandon Valenzuela, and third baseman Kazuma Okamoto. The Blue Jays also got doubles from outfielders Daulton Varsho and Davis Schneider. Valenzuela led the Blue Jays with three runs batted in. Seven Blue Jay batters collected a hit.
On the mound, Dylan Cease had a quality start. It was his second quality start for the Blue Jays this season. He only gave up three earned runs in seven innings of work.
