Beauvillier, Pageau and Bailey lead Islanders to playoff win over Lightning

The New York Islanders have won their first game of the Eastern Conference Finals of the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Anthony Beauvillier of Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, Jean-Gabriel Pageau of Ottawa, Ontario, and Josh Bailey of Bowmanville, Ontario each registered two points in a 5-3 Islanders win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday. With the win, the Islanders still trail the Lightning two games to one in the best of seven series from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta.

Beauvillier and Pageau each notched one goal and one assist for two points. Bailey meanwhile had two assists. A fourth Islanders player also had a multi-point game as Brock Nelson notched one goal and one assist for two points. The Islanders also got goals from Cal Clutterbuck of Welland, Ontario, and Adam Pelech of Toronto, Ontario.

Clutterbuck put the Islanders on the scoreboard at 12:58 of the first period to open the scoring. Pelech and Beauvillier each scored for the Islanders in the second period. Pageau’s goal came into an empty net with 36 seconds left.

Beauvillier currently leads the Islanders with nine postseason goals, while Bailey leads New York with 17 assists and 19 points. Game four of the series is Sunday afternoon.
