Andrew Harris and Nic Demski lead Blue Bombers to blow out win over Argonauts

Two Canadians found the end zone in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ 48-21 win over the Toronto Argonauts on Friday from Investor’s Group Field in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Friday. Running back Andrew Harris and wide receiver Nic Demski of Winnipeg, Manitoba both scored touchdowns, with Harris leading the Blue Bombers with 116 rushing yards and 123 total yards. Demski led the Blue Bombers with 75 receiving yards.

Harris and Demski both recorded their touchdowns on receptions. Harris’s touchdown came on a four yard pass from Matt Nichols in the first quarter which put Winnipeg up 13-0 and Demski’s touchdown was a 67 yard reception in the second quarter which put the Blue Bombers up 27-0. With the win, Winnipeg improves to a perfect record of four wins and zero losses. They are the only team in the Canadian Football League undefeated.

A third Canadian notched a touchdown in week five. Edmonton Eskimos wide receiver Natey Adjei of Toronto, Ontario had a 77 yard touchdown catch from quarterback Trevor Harris on Thursday in the Eskimos’ 33-6 win over the British Columbia Lions. Adjei’s touchdown came early in the third quarter which put the Eskimos up 22-3 at the time. The touchdown pass was significant for Harris, as he injured his knee late in the second quarter but came back on to the field for the second half. Adjei had a career night as he eclipsed 100 yards receiving for the first time in his career as he had 106 receiving yards.

In other CFL action in week five, the Montreal Alouettes beat the Ottawa Redblacks 36-19 and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats beat the Calgary Stampeders 30-23. In other CFL news, the Lions have signed wide receiver and kick returner Ryan Lankford. Over the last five seasons, Lankford has played two seasons each with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Blue Bombers before starting the 2019 season with the Redblacks. He has 44 yards receiving for 516 yards and four touchdowns and another 2186 yards on punt and kickoff returns.
