Two Canadian golfers are in contention at the 2022 RSM Classic in St. Simons Island, Georgia. Adam Svensson of Surrey, British Columbia is one stroke back of the leaders–Americans Patrick Rodgers and Ben Martin. Meanwhile, Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill, Ontario is in a tie for sixth place at -12, and two strokes back.
Both Svensson and Pendrith were sensational on Saturday. Svensson shot an eight-under-par 62, including an eagle on the par five 15th. Pendrith shot a five-under-par 65, including three birdies on his last four holes.
Twelve more golfers are in contention in Georgia this weekend. Tied with Svensson in third place and one shot off the lead are Americans Sahith Theegala and Andrew Putnam. Tied with Pendrith in sixth place are Americans Beau Hossler, Brian Harman, Taylor Montgomery, Alex Smalley, Kevin Streelman, and Harry Higgs. There are four more golfers tied at -11 and three strokes off the lead. There you can find Englishmen Ben Taylor and Callum Tarren, Ireland’s Seamus Power, and American Will Gordon.
One Canadian has won the RSM Classic before. In a wild Monday finish in 2016, Mackenzie Hughes of Hamilton, Ontario, shot a four-round score of -17, and won in a five-man playoff where he beat Americans Blayne Barber and Billy Horschel, Sweden’s Henrik Norlander, and Colombia’s Camilo Villegas.
