Adam Hadwin in contention at the 2022 Valspar Championship

Adam Hadwin of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan is in contention after the second round of the 2022 Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Florida. Hadwin is at -12 and two strokes back of the leader Matthew NeSmith of the United States, who is leading at -14.

In round one on Thursday, Hadwin shot a round of seven-under-par 64. He had eight birdies and one bogey. Hadwin birdied the first, fifth, sixth, seventh, ninth, 10th, 15th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the 13th hole.

In round two on Friday, Hadwin shot a round of five-under-par 67. He had six birdies and one bogey. He birdied the first, eighth, 10th, 11th, 12th, and 16th holes, and bogeyed the third. Hadwin and NeSmith tee off at 12pm MT for round three.

Two more American golfers are in contention at -11, and three strokes back of NeSmith. They are Scott Stallings and Sam Burns.

According to the Associated Press, Hadwin made two significant putts which put him in contention heading into round three. He had a 15-foot par putt on the seventh hole, and a 20-foot birdie putt on the eighth hole.

In an interesting note, Hadwin’s lone career PGA Tour victory came at the 2017 Valspar Championship. There he beat reigning FedEx Cup champion Patrick Cantlay of the United States by a stroke.
