Jennifer Abel of Montreal, Quebec won two medals this past weekend in events with Olympic status at the 2018 FINA Diving World Series in Montreal, Quebec. Abel won silver in the women’s three metre synchronized springboard with Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu of Saint-Constant, Quebec on Friday and then won bronze in the women’s three metre springboard on Sunday.
In the women’s three metre synchronized springboard, Abel and Citrini-Beaulieu posted a score of 304.83 points. Yani Chang and Tingmao Shi of China won the gold medal with 313.5 points. Anabelle Smith and Esther Qin of Australia won the bronze medal with 295.8 points, Abel and Citrini-Beaulieu reached the podium by 12.03 points over Nadezhda Bazhina and Kristina Ilinykh of Russia, who finished in fourth place with 292.8 points.
In the women’s three metre springboard, Abel posted a score of 364.8 points. Shi won the gold medal with 381.95 points and Han Wang of China won the silver medal with 376.1 points. Abel reached the podium by 13.05 points over Pamela Ware of Montreal, Quebec, who finished in fourth place with 351.75 points.
Meanwhile on Saturday, three-time Olympic medalist Meaghan Benfeito of Montreal, Quebec won the bronze medal in the women’s 10m platform. Benfeito had a score of 354.65 points. Qian Ren of China won gold with a score of 395.85 points. Yajie Si of China won silver with a score of 377.65 points. Benfeito reached the podium by 11.5 points over Pandelela Pamg of Malaysia, who was in fourth place with a score of 343.15 points.
