Team Yukon, skipped by Hailey Birnie of Whitehorse, won their first game in four years on Monday at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. In a dominant performance, Yukon beat the second Wildcard team skipped by Casey Scheidegger of Lethbridge, Alberta, 10-3. Birnie’s team got off to a great start as they scored three points with the hammer in the first end, stole a key point in the fourth end to take a 5-1 lead, and then had another three points in the sixth end to take a commanding 8-2 lead.

At the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the Yukon team skipped by Nicole Baldwin of Whitehorse, beat the Northwest Territories 13-6. In that win by the Yukon, they had two four enders.

Meanwhile, Kerri Einarson’s Team Canada squad, have a perfect record of five wins and zero losses. On Monday, Einarson  of Gimli, Manitoba clobbered two teams from the Maritime provinces. She first beat Prince Edward Island, which was skipped by Marie Christianson (Suzanne Birt throws fourth stones), 9-2 and then beat Nova Scotia, skipped by Christina Black of Sydney, 9-4.
