
The Montreal Victoire are in a tight series with the Minnesota Frost in the Professional Women’s Hockey League postseason. After three games of action, the Victoire have outscored the Frost 7-6.
On Thursday in game three of the PWHL semifinals, the Victoire came through with a 2-1 win to take a two games to one series lead in the best out of five series. The Victoire were led by Hayley Scamurra and Maggie Flaherty. Scamurra had a multi-point game as she had one goal and one assist for two points. Her goal was an unassisted goal and game-winning goal at exactly the five minute mark of the second period which broke a 1-1 deadlock. In fact, Scamurra’s goal came only 24 seconds after Flaherty tied the game at one from Scamurra.
The top Canadian on the Victoire in game three was Canadian Olympic gold medalist Ann-Renee Desbiens of La Malbaie, Quebec. Desbiens, who won the gold medal in women’s hockey for Canada at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, made 27 saves on 28 shots.
Game four of the series is in Minnesota on Friday night. A Victoire win, and Montreal is in the PWHL Finals. A Minnesota win, and there will be a fifth and deciding game in Quebec on Monday night.
