Vanessa James and Eric Radford win bronze at the 2022 World Figure Skating Championships

Vanessa James of Scarborough, Ontario, and Canadian Olympic gold medalist Eric Radford of Winnipeg, Manitoba won the bronze medal on Thursday at the 2022 World Figure Skating Championships in Montpellier, France. James and Radford posted a third place score of 197.32 points for the best result they have ever had together in a major international figure skating competition.

Radford previously won four medals, including two gold medals with Meagan Duhamel of Sudbury, Ontario, at the World Figure Skating Championships. The gold medals came at the 2015 World Figure Skating Championships in Shanghai, and the 2016 World Figure Skating Championships in Boston. Radford and Duhamel also won a gold medal in the team event at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, along with the silver medal in the team event at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, and the bronze medal in the pairs event at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. James’s major championship medal was a bronze medal with Morgan Cipres of France at the 2018 World Figure Skating Championships in Milan.

Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier of the United States won the gold medal in Montpellier with a score of 221.09 points. Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara of Japan won the silver medal with a score of 199.55 points. Radford and James reached the podium by 5.58 points over Karina Safina and Luka Berulava of Georgia, who finished in fourth place with a time of 191.74 points.
