According to Dave Naylor of TSN on Thursday, the Toronto Argonauts will play the Saskatchewan Roughriders on July 16 from Wolfville, Nova Scotia. The game will be played at Raymond Field, which is the home of Acadia University.
The Argonauts were to play the Roughriders in 2020 in Halifax, but was cancelled because of coronavirus. There has only been one Canadian Football League game played in Nova Scotia and that was on June 11, 2005. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Argonauts tied at 16 points apiece from Huskies Stadium in Halifax. However the game was only an exhibition contest, and played prior to the star of the regular season. A year later in 2006, an exhibition game was to be held again at Huskies Stadium between the Montreal Alouettes and Ottawa Renegades, but this game did not happen because the Renegades had ceased operations.
This will be the fifth regular season game played overall from the Touchdown Atlantic Series. The other four games were played in Moncton, New Brunswick. On September 26, 2010, Edmonton defeated the Argonauts 24-6. On September 25, 2011, the Tiger-Cats beat the Calgary Stampeders 55-36. On September 21, 2013, the Tiger-Cats beat the Alouettes 28-26. On August 25, 2019, the Alouettes beat the Argonauts 28-22. There are hopes to have an Atlantic team in the CFL over the next decade called the Atlantic Schooners, but nothing has been finalized as of yet.
