Week 16 is now complete and three Canadians contributed to touchdowns on winning teams. They were British Columbia Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke of Victoria, British Columbia, Lions wide receiver Jevon Cottoy of Calgary, Alberta and Calgary Stampeders wide receiver Clark Barnes of Brampton, Ontario.
Rourke completed 22 of 28 passes for 375 passing yards and four touchdown passes along with three rushes for 37 rushing yards in a 31-24 Lions win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia on Friday. Rourke had touchdown passes of 14 and 19 yards to Hatcher, an 11 yard touchdown pass to Cottoy, and an 11 yard touchdown pass to Jermaine Jackson.
For the season, Rourke has completed 265 passes in 370 attempts for 3851 passing yards, with 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He has 23 rushes for 283 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Rourke’s touchdown pass to Cottoy on Friday put the Lions up 24-13 with seven minutes and 36 seconds left in the third quarter. Cottoy finished the game with nine catches for 96 receiving yards. For the season, he has 41 catches for 547 receiving yards and three touchdowns. With the win, the Lions improved to a record of eight wins and six losses and are in second place in the West Division.
Barnes completed the scoring with a 60 yard touchdown catch from Vernon Adams Jr. with 45 seconds left in the fourth quarter in a 45-31 Stampeders win over the Ottawa Redblacks from Toronto Dominion Place in Ottawa, Ontario on Saturday. He finished the game with three catches for 109 receiving yards. On the season, Barnes has 36 catches for a career-high 609 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He also has one rush for two yards.
