Three Canadian NLL franchises reach 2025 semifinals

The 2025 National Lacrosse League semifinalists have been determined. Among the four NLL franchises in the semifinals are three Canadian clubs. They are the Halifax Thunderbirds, Saskatchewan Rush and Vancouver Warriors. The Thunderbirds and Rush will now face each other in the NLL semifinals, guaranteeing a NLL franchise in the 2025 National Lacrosse League Cup. The Warriors meanwhile, will play the Buffalo Bandits in the other semifinal.

In the first of three quarterfinal games on Saturday, the Thunderbirds beat the Calgary Roughnecks 16-12 in the first ever NLL playoff game in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Thunderbirds were led by Thomas Hoggarth of Lakefield, Ontario, who had three goals and five assists for eight points. Dawson Theede of Brooklin, Ontario and Cody Jamieson of Six Nations, Ontario also had hat tricks.

Then, the Rush defeated the Georgia Swarm 13-9 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It was a strong game offensively for Rush transition player Jake Boudreau of Brampton, Ontario. He led the team in goals (four) and points (five).

The Warriors defeated the Rochester Knighthawks 15-10 in the fourth and final quarterfinal game of the weekend. Vancouver was led by Keegan Bal of Coquitlam, British Columbia. He scored five goals and reached double digits in points as he added six assists for 11 points.
