Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill, Ontario was the lone Canadian to win a match on Saturday at the 2024 Presidents Cup at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Quebec. Pendrith and 2013 Masters champion Adam Scott of Adelaide, Australia defeated 2023 British Open champion Brian Harman of Savannah, Georgia, and Max Homa of Burbank, California two up.
It was a rather disappointing day for the International side as they only won two of eight matches. The only other International pairing to get the win was Si-woo Kim and Tom Kim of South Korea as they beat the American duo of Keegan Bradley and Wyndham Clark 4&3 in four ball action. After three days, the United States have now taken a commanding 11-7 lead.
In Pendrith and Scott’s win, Scott and Pendrith birdied the third hole to go one up. Harman and Homa then birdied the fourth hole to even the match, and then went one up themselves by scoring a birdie on the fifth hole. Pendrith and Scott then evened the match with a birdie on the eighth hole, went one up with a birdie on the ninth hole and then two up with a birdie on the 12th hole. The United States then won the 15th and 17th holes, while Scott and Pendrith won the 16th and 18th holes.
On Sunday is singles action. Corey Conners of Listowel, Ontario will face Tony Finau, Pendrith will face Patrick Cantlay, and Mackenzie Hughes of Hamilton. Ontario will face Max Homa.
