Six Canadians contribute to touchdowns on winning teams in Week 5 of 2026 CFL season

The fifth week of the 2026 Canadian Football League regular season concluded on Sunday. Six Canadians contributed to touchdowns for winning teams. They were Calgary Stampeders wide receiver Jalen Philpot of Delta, British Columbia, Stampeders wide receiver Dejon Brissett of Mississauga, Ontario, Stampeders wide receiver Clark Barnes of Brampton, Ontario, Stampeders quarterback Quincy Vaughn of Brantford, Ontario, Saskatchewan Roughriders wide receiver Dhel Duncan-Busby of Vancouver, British Columbia, and British Columbia Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke of Victoria, British Columbia.

Philpot, Brissett, Barnes and Vaughn scored touchdowns for the Stampeders in a 58-36 win over the Toronto Argonauts on Thursday at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta. Philpot caught a six-yard touchdown pass from Vernon Adams Jr. at 4:31 of the first quarter to open the scoring, and then had a one-yard touchdown pass from Adams Jr. with one minute and 53 seconds left in the first half to put the Stampeders up 22-10. Philpot had seven catches for 83 receiving yards and three yards rushing in the game. For the season, he has 18 catches for 245 yards receiving and three touchdown catches.

Like Philpot, Brissett had two touchdown catches for the Stampeders. He had a 20-yard touchdown catch at the 32 second mark of the second quarter to put the Stampeders up 15-7, and then had an 11-yard touchdown catch at 6:11 of the fourth quarter, to put the Stampeders up 58-30. Brissett had three catches for 70 yards in the game. For the season, he has eight catches for 148 receiving yards and two touchdowns catches.

Barnes had a 45 yard touchdown catch from Adams Jr. at 5:41 of the third quarter. At the time, the Stampeders went up 36-18. Barnes had two catches for 63 receiving yards in the game. For the season, Barnes has seven catches for 136 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Vaughn had a one-yard touchdown run with 27 seconds left in the third quarter. At the time, the Stampeders went up 44-24. Vaughn finished the game with five rushes for 10 rushing yards. For the season, Vaughn has 16 rushes for 29 rushing yards and five touchdowns. With the win, the Stampeders improved to a record of two wins and two losses, and are in fourth place in the West Division.

Duncan-Busby helped the Roughriders to a 27-22 win over the Ottawa Redblacks in Ottawa on Friday. He had a 13-yard touchdown catch from Trevor Harris at 2:12 of the second quarter. At the time, Duncan-Busby put the Roughriders on the scoreboard, but still trailed 10-7. He finished the game with two catches for 20 receiving yards and one touchdown catch. For the season, Duncan-Busby has six catches for 53 receiving yards and one touchdown reception. With the win, the Roughriders improved to a record of three wins and one loss, and are tied with the Edmonton Elks for first place in the West Division.

Rourke helped the Lions to a 36-24 win over the Elks in Kelowna, British Columbia on Saturday. He threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to Alexander Horvath at the 28 second mark of the fourth quarter to put the Lions up 36-21 at the time. Rourke finished the game with 27 completions in 36 attempts for 320 passing yards, one touchdown pass and two interceptions. For the season, he has 107 completions in 150 attempts for 1403 passing yards, five touchdown passes and four interceptions. Rourke also had seven rushes for 71 rushing yards and one touchdown run.
