According to Wayne Scanlan of Rogers Sportsnet on Friday, the Ottawa Senators have signed left winger David Perron of Sherbrooke, Quebec. The terms of the contract are for two years and $8 million.
Perron is joining his sixth National Hockey League franchise. He has previously played a total of 11 seasons with the St. Louis Blues 0n three separate occasions. He was first with the Blues from 2007 to 2013, again from 2016 2017, and then from 2018 to 2022.
Perron was also with the Edmonton Oilers from 2013 to 2015, the Pittsburgh Penguins for two seasons from 2015 to 2016, the Anaheim Ducks for one season in 2016 and the Vegas Golden Knights for one season in 2016 to 2017. While with the Blues, Perron was part of the St. Louis franchise that won the 2019 Stanley Cup. The Blues beat the Boston Bruins in seven games.
This past season, Perron had 17 goals and 30 assists for 47 points in 76 games with the Red Wings. He was a -12 with 55 penalty minutes, 17 power-play points, four game-winning goals, 151 shots on goal, 16 faceoff wins, 27 blocked shots, 111 hits, 31 takeaways, and only 12 giveaways, for a very respectable takeaway/giveaway ratio of +19.
Perron represented the Blues at the 2020 National Hockey League All-Star Game. That said he had 25 goals and 35 assisted for 60 points in 71 games.
