Mitton reached the podium in Sweden without throwing her personal best. That came at the Bell Canadian National Track and Field Championships in Langley, British Columbia on June 25, when she threw 20.33 metres.
Mitton is Canada’s rising star in track and field. One of her most notable achievements to date is winning the gold medal in the 2019 Summer Universiade in Naples, Italy.
It is going to be a rather busy summer for Mitton. On July 16, she is projected to compete for Canada at the 2022 International Association of Athletics Federations World Athletics Championship in Eugene, Oregon. On August 3 she is projected to compete for Canada at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. The silver medal for Mitton will give her confidence as she prepares for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
