Samuel Montembeault records fourth career NHL shutout

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Sam Montembeault of Becancour, Quebec recorded his fourth career National Hockey League shutout on Thursday. He accomplished the feat in a 3-0 Canadiens win over the Nashville Predators at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.

Montembeault made 29 saves overall. He made six saves in the first period, 10 saves in the second period, and 13 saves in the third period. Jonathan Marchessault of Quebec City, Quebec led the Predators with five shots on goal.

Jake Evans of Toronto, Ontario led the Canadiens in scoring with two points. He had one goal and one assist. Evans’s goal was the game-winning goal. It was a shorthanded unassisted marker at 7:50 of the first period.

In 2024-25, Montembeault has a record of has a record of eight wins, 10 regulation losses, and two losses in extra time. He has three shutouts with a goals against average of 2.82 and a save percentage of .906.

This was also Montembeault’s third NHL shutout of the season. He previously blanked the Toronto Maple Leafs 1-0 on October 9 and the Edmonton Oilers 3-0 on November 18. Montembeault’s three shutouts are tied for the most in the National Hockey League. He is tied with Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets. Montembeault’s only prior shutout came on February 23, 2022 in a 4-0 Canadiens win over the Buffalo Sabres.
