Saint John Sea Dogs win 2022 Memorial Cup

The Saint John Sea Dogs have won the 2022 Memorial Cup. On Wednesday from Saint John, New Brunswick, the Sea Dogs defeated Hamilton Bulldogs 6-3 to win their second Memorial Cup in franchise history. The Sea Dogs were previously victorious in 2011 in Mississauga, Ontario when they beat the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors 3-1 in the Memorial Cup final.

In Wednesday’s final. the Sea Dogs were led in scoring by left winger Cam MacDonald of Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia. MacDonald had one goal and two assists for three points.

Five more Sea Dogs had multi-point games. Peter Reynolds and Josh Lawrence of Fredericton, New Brunswick, and William Dufour of Quebec City, Quebec, had one goal and one assist each. Meanwhile, Ryan Francis of Beaver Bank, Nova Scotia, and William Villeneuve of Sherbrooke, Quebec each had two assists. The other Sea Dogs with goals were Riley Bezeau of Rothesay, New Brunswick, and captain Vincent Sevigny of Quebec City, Quebec.

In other Canadian Hockey League news, Logan Strankoven of Kamloops, British Columbia has been named the Canadian Hockey League Most Valuable Player. The center who was a Dallas Stars draft pick, had 45 goals and 59 assists for 104 points in 59 games. He also had 31 points in 17 playoff games.
