The Calgary Roughnecks of the National Lacrosse League have the chance to win the 2019 NLL Finals at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta on Saturday. That is because this past Saturday, the Roughnecks took a 1-0 lead in their best out of three final series with the Buffalo Bandits.

In game one of the series at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York, the Roughnecks came away with a 10-7 win. It was an excellent game for Roughnecks captain Dane Dobbie of Elora, Ontario, as he led the team offensively with six points (three goals and three assists).

It was a very low scoring first half in game one, as both teams only scored once in the first and second quarters. With the game tied at two heading into the third quarter, the Roughnecks outscored the Bandits 3-1 in the third frame and then 5-4 in the fourth frame.

The Roughnecks have won two Champion’s Cups in the past. The first came in 2004 when they beat the Bandits 14-11 in the championship final at the Saddledome. The second came in 2009 when they beat the New York Titans 12-10 at the Saddledome. The Bandits have won one NLL Championship. That came in 2008 when they beat the Portland LumberJax 14-13.
