Roster for Team Canada at 2025 World Men’s Hockey Championship

The 2025 International Ice Hockey Federation World Men’s Hockey Championship began on Friday in Stockholm, Sweden and Herning, Denmark. Canada’s first game is Saturday against Slovenia. Here is the Canadian roster.

Of the players chosen are two Canadian Olympic gold medalists. They are captain Sidney Crosby of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, who plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins and goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury of Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, who played this past season with the Minnesota Wild. Crosby and Fleury won a gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, and Crosby won a gold medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

Two players are on Canadian teams. They are Montreal Canadiens defenseman Mike Matheson of Pointe-Claire, Quebec and Calgary Flames defenseman Mackenzie Weegar of Ottawa, Ontario.

The top Canadian goaltender is Jordan Binnington of Richmond Hill, Ontario, who plays for the St. Louis Blues. The other Canadian goaltender is Dylan Garand of Victoria, British Columbia, who plays for the American Hockey League’s Hartford Wolf Pack.

Two other notable players have won major awards. They are 2024 Hart Trophy winner and Colorado Avalanche centre Nathan MacKinnon of Halifax, Nova Scotia. and 2019 Conn Smythe Trophy winner and Nashville Predators centre Ryan O’Reilly of Clinton, Ontario.

There are five more defensemen. They are Noah Dobson of Summerside, Prince Edward Island (New York Islanders), Ryker Evans of Calgary, Alberta (Seattle Kraken),  Brandon Montour of Ohsweken, Ontario (Seattle Kraken), Travis Sanheim of Elkhorn, Manitoba (Philadelphia Flyers), and Jared Spurgeon of Edmonton, Alberta (Minnesota Wild).

There are 10 more forwards. They are centre Macklin Celebrini of North Vancouver, British Columbia (San Jose Sharks), left winger Will Cuylle of Toronto, Ontario (New York Rangers), centre Phillip Danault of Victoriaville, Quebec (Los Angeles Kings), centre Adam Fantilli of Nobleton, Ontario (Columbus Blue Jackets), right winger Tyson Forester of Alliston, Ontario (Philadelphia Flyers), centre Barrett Hayton of Peterborough, Ontario (Utah Mammoth), centre Bo Horvat of London, Ontario (New York Islanders), left winger Kent Johnson of Port Moody, British Columbia (Columbus Blue Jackets), right winger Travis Konecny of London, Ontario (Philadelphia Flyers), centre Brayden Schenn of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (St. Louis Blues),
