
The Toronto Raptors delivered their biggest upset of the 2024-25 National Basketball Association season on Wednesday. As a 12.5 point underdog, they beat the Boston Celtics 110-97 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario. The Raptors have now won two straight games. They also beat the Golden State Warriors 104-101 on Monday.
In the Raptors win over the Celtics, Canadian RJ Barrett of Toronto led the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Other Raptors who reached double digits in points were Scottie Barnes (18 points), Jakob Poeltl (16 points), Gradey Dick (12 points) and Davion Mitchell (10 points). Poeltl also had a double double as he had 11 rebounds.
The Celtics have now lost five times in the last five weeks as a double digit favourite. They were also beaten 117-108 by the Chicago Bulls on December 14 as a 14.5 point favourite, 108-104 by the Orlando Magic on December 23 as a 10 point favourite, 123-114 by the Indiana Pacers on December 29 as a 12.5 point favourite, and 114-97 by the Sacramento Kings on January 10 as a 12 point favourite.
The Raptors meanwhile, have only won 10 games all season long. They have only won one game all season long on the road. That came on November 27, when they spanked the New Orleans Pelicans 119-93. Toronto’s road record of one win and 18 losses is the worst in the NBA.
