The Edmonton Oilers are in the 2024 Stanley Cup Finals. On Sunday from Rogers Arena in Edmonton, Alberta, the Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars 2-1 in game six of the best out of seven Western Conference Final series. With the win, the Oilers won the series four games to two.

The Oilers offensive star on Sunday was captain and centre Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario. McDavid had one goal and one assist for two points. McDavid’s goal was on the power-play and was of the highlight reel variety as he exemplified some incredible razzle dazzle on the ice and beat Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen. McDavid was one of two Oilers with a multi-point game. The other was defenseman Evan Bouchard of Oakville, Ontario, who had two assists. The other Oilers goal scorer was Zach Hyman of Toronto. Like McDavid, Hyman scored on the power-play.

Both Oilers goals came in the first period, and came on only three Oilers first period shots. In fact, Edmonton only had 10 shots the entire game, and were outshot 35-10 by Dallas. The 10 shots on goal were tied for the least number of shots by any winning team in National Hockey League Stanley Cup Playoff history. Next up for the Oilers is the Florida Panthers in a series that commences Saturday.
