Nicolas Laframboise and Brooke Voigt win World Cup big air snowboarding medals in Atlanta

Nicolas Laframboise of Montreal, Quebec and Brooke Voigt of Fort McMurray, Alberta won a silver and bronze medal respectively at a World Cup big air snowboarding event in Atlanta, Georgia, United States on Friday. Laframboise won the silver medal in the men’s competition and Voigt won the bronze medal in the women’s competition.

In the men’s big air, Laframboise posted a score of 166.75 points. He reached the podium by 8.5 points over Justus Henkes of the United States, who was in fourth place with a score of 158.25 points. Chris Corning of the United States won the gold medal with 177.25 points and Ryoma Kimata of Japan won the bronze medal with a score of 163 points. Laframboise finished second in the World Cup men’s big air snowboarding standings with 2300 points. Corning was the leader with 3200 points.

This was Laframboise’s second World Cup medal. He previously won gold in Modena, Italy on December 20, 2019.

In the women’s big air, Voigt posted a scored of 143.25 points. She reached the podium by 28.75 points over Julia Marino of the United States, who finished in fourth place with a score of 114.5 points. Reira Iwabuchi of Japan won the gold medal with 170.5 points and Kokomo Murase of Japan won the silver medal with 159.5 points.

This was Voigt’s eighth World Cup snowboarding medal and third in big air. She previously won bronze in Boston on February 11, 2016 and silver in Modena, Italy on November 2, 2019.

This was the last women’s big air snowboarding World Cup of the season. Voigt finished second in the World Cup standings with 1620 points. Iwabuchi led 2900 points. The medals in Atlanta for Voigt and Laframboise will prepare them for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
