Nick Taylor of Winnipeg, Manitoba is in contention at the 2024 Phoenix Open. After two rounds, Taylor is in second place at -12. He is one stroke back of American Sahith Theegala of Orange, California, who is in first place at -13.
Taylor had a sensational first round as he shot a score of 60. He had 11 birdies in 18 holes for an opening round score of -11. After starting on the back nine, Taylor birdied the 11th, 12th, 13th, 16th, 18th, 1st, second, third, fifth, eighth, and ninth holes. Then in round two, Taylor shot a score of one-under-par 70. He birdied the 10th and 17th holes, and bogeyed the first.
Two more golfers are in contention at this time. Tied for second place with Taylor at -12 is Andrew Novak of Raleigh, North Carolina. Then in fourth place is Maverick McNealy of Portola Valley, California, who is in fourth place at -10.
This is the second consecutive year that Taylor has been in contention at the Phoenix Open. A year ago, he finished in second place after shooting a four-round score of -17. The champion was Scottie Scheffler of Ridgewood, New Jersey, the 2022 Masters Champion, who shot a four round score of -19.
Taylor has won three times on the PGA Tour. He won the 2014 Sanderson Farms Classic, the 2020 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am and the 2023 Canadian Open.
