Nic Demski helps the Blue Bombers deliver a playoff upset

Nic Demski of Winnipeg, Manitoba played an integral role in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers ‘ 35-14 win over the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta on Sunday in the Western Semi-Final of the 2019 Canadian Football League playoffs. Demski had three rushes for 53 yards and a touchdown, along with one catch for nine yards.

Demski’s touchdown came at 5:14 of the third quarter. It was 33 yard touchdown run, which at the time tied the game at 14 points apiece.

The Blue Bombers’ other offensive weapon from Winnipeg also had a respectable performance with 67 yards of offense. Running back Andrew Harris had 14 carries for 57 rushing yards and four catches for 10 yards. The Blue Bombers (11-7) will now face the Saskatchewan Roughriders (13-5) in the Western Final.

In the Eastern Semi-Final on Sunday, the Edmonton Eskimos defeated the Montreal Alouettes 37-29. It was an impeccable game for Eskimos quarterback Trevor Harris. The eight-year veteran completed 36 of 39 passes for 421 yards. Two Eskimos receivers reached the 100 yard plateau as Greg Ellingson had eight catches for 125 yards and Ricky Collins had six catches for 117 yards. The Eskimos, which were 8-10 in the regular season, will face a Hamilton Tiger-Cats squad that was 15-3 in the regular season, in the Eastern Final on Sunday.
