
Two Canadian wide receivers shined during week 12 of the 2022 Canadian Football League regular season this past weekend. They were Winnipeg Blue Bombers wide receiver Nic Demski of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Saskatchewan Roughriders wide receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker of Mississauga, Ontario.
Demski had eight catches for 117 yards and one touchdown on Thursday as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers defeated the Calgary Stampeders 31-29 from Investors Group Field in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Demski’s touchdown catch was for 15 yards from quarterback Zach Collaros and put the Blue Bombers up 13-7 with five minutes and five seconds left in the first half. With the win, the Blue Bombers improved to a record of 10 wins and one loss in the West Division. On the season, Demski now has 31 catches for 333 yards and one touchdown.
Schaffer-Baker had five catches for 170 yards and one touchdown in a 23-16 Saskatchewan Roughriders win over the British Columbia Lions from BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia on Friday. Schaffer-Baker’s touchdown was for 85 yards from quarterback Cody Fajardo with four minutes and 25 seconds left in the first half, and put the Roughriders up 9-6 at the time. With the win, the Roughriders improved to a record of six wins and five losses in the West Division. On the season, Schaffer-Baker has 44 catches for 614 yards and four touchdowns.
