Milos Raonic to face Felix Auger-Aliassime in semifinals of 2019 Stuttgart Open

Two Canadians will be playing against each other on Saturday at the 2019 Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart, Germany. In this intriguing grass court event, the sixth seed Milos Raonic of Thornhill, Ontario will face the seventh seed Felix Auger-Aliassime of Montreal, Quebec in the semifinals.

This will be the second time that Raonic will have faced Auger-Aliassime. Their first meeting came in the second round of the 2018 ATP Masters 1000 Series in Indian Wells, California, a match that Raonic won 6-4, 6-4. Auger-Aliassime played two Canadians in the California tournament last year as he also beat Vasek Pospisil of Vernon, British Columbia 6-2, 7-6 in the first round.

On his way to the semifinal, Raonic, the sixth seed, beat qualifier Alexei Popyrin of Australia 6-7, 6-4, 7-6 in the first round, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France (the 2008 Australian Open finalist) 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 in the second round and Marton Fucsovics of Hungary 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals. Auger-Aliassime, the seventh seed, beat Ernests Gulbis of Latvia 7-5, 6-3 in the first round, Gilles Simon of France 7-5, 6-4 in the second round and Dustin Brown of Germany 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 in the quarterfinals.

If you are looking for any television coverage in Canada of the Mercedes Cup, there is not any. TSN only has the rights of the majors, 1000 Masters Series and ATP 500 series events. The Mercedes Cup is part of the ATP 250 series, which Sportsnet used to have rights to but no longer does. In order to watch the match, you have to sign up with the streaming service on DAZN.
