Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson have reached the quarterfinals of the World Women’s Beach Volleyball Pro Tour Elite 16 event in Ostrava, Czech Republic on Saturday. In the tournament to date, they have a perfect record of three wins and zero losses.
Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson have won Pool D after beating Barbora Hermannova and Marie-Sara Stochlova of the Czech Republic 21-12, 23-21 on Thursday, and then Raisa Schoon and Katja Stam of the Netherlands, 21-19, 21-15, and Joana Mader and Anouk Verge-Depre of Switzerland 23-21, 21-15 on Friday.
In Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson’s win over the Czech Republic, Humana-Paredes had 20 points and Wilkerson had 16 points. Humana-Paredes had 14 attack points, two block points and four aces. Wilkerson had 12 attack points, two block points and two aces.
In Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson’s win over the Netherlands, Wilkerson had 17 points and Humana-Paredes had 11 points. Wilkerson had 13 attack points, three block points and one ace. Humana-Paredes had 11 attack points.
In Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson’s win over Switzerland, Wilkerson had 20 points and Humana-Paredes had nine points. Wilkerson had 16 attack points and four block points, and Humana-Paredes had five attack points and four aces.
Next up for Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson is the winner of Germany and Italy. Canada’s quarterfinal matchup is slated for 6 AM MT on Saturday. So far in 2024, Humana-Paredes have one podium position in an elite 16 event. They won the silver medal in Doha, Qatar in March.
