Curtis McKenzie and Justin Dowling lead Texas Stars to game 4 win in Calder Cup Finals

Curtis McKenzie of Golden, British Columbia and Justin Dowling of Cochrane, Alberta each recorded two points on Thursday as the Texas Stars beat the Toronto Marlies 3-2 in game four of the 2018 Calder Cup Finals. With the win, the Marlies and Stars are tied at two games apiece in the best out of seven series for the American Hockey League championship.

McKenzie notched the first two Stars goals, while Dowling had the game winning goal and assisted on McKenzie’s second goal. McKenzie now has 10 goals in the 2018 Calder Cup Playoffs and 19 points overall, which lead all players in the postseason.

McKenzie’s first goal came at 10:50 of the first period from Brian Flynn and Travis Morin to open the scoring. He then put the Stars up 2-0 with an even strength goal at the six minute mark of the second period from Dowling.

Then after the Marlies tied the game at two with two second period goals from Dmytro Timashov and Andreas Johnsson, Dowling scored the game winning goal at 9:58 of the third period from Morin and Matt Mangene.

The Stars and Marlies series continues in Austin, Texas for game five on Saturday night. The series will then shift back to Canada for game six on Tuesday and game seven if necessary on Thursday.
