Maude-Aimee Leblanc of Sherbrooke, Quebec is in contention at the 2022 JTBC Classic in Carlsbad, California. After 36 holes, Leblanc is at eight-under-par, tied for fourth place, and three strokes back of the leader, Nanna Koerstz Madsen of Denmark, who is at -11.
Leblanc shot four-under-par in both of her rounds so far this week. On Thursday, she was great on the front nine, but struggled to end her round. Leblanc collected seven birdies in the first nine holes, as she went one-under-par on the first, third, fourth, fifth, seventh, eighth, and ninth holes. Leblanc also bogeyed the second and sixth holes. On the back nine however, Leblanc birdied the 10th and 16th holes, before scoring a double-bogey seven on the 17th hole, and a bogey on the 18th hole.
On Friday, Leblanc was more consistent as she had a bogey-free round. She birdied the first, fifth, eighth, and 14th holes, to move from four-under-par to eight-under-par.
There are four other golfers in contention at this time. Hye-jin Choi of South Korea and Lydia Ko of New Zealand are tied for second and two strokes back at nine-under-par. Jin-young Ko of South Korea and Na Rin An of South Korea are three strokes back at eight-under-par.
