Canadian Olympic bronze medalist Marion Thenault of Sherbrooke, Quebec won the silver medal in a World Cup women’s aerials event in Deer Valley, Utah on Friday. For Thenault, it was her sixth World Cup medal of her career.
Thenault posted a score of 97.99 points. Danielle Scott of Australia won the gold medal with 115.2 points. Fanyu Kong of China won the bronze medal with 94.11 points. Thenault reached the podium by 10.93 points over Kaila Kuhn of the United States, who posted a score of 87.06 points and finished in fourth place.
In the World Cup women’s aerials standings, Thenault is currently in second place with 275 points. Scott leads with 282 points.
This was Thenault’s third World Cup aerials medal this season. She previously won a silver medal in Ruka, Finland on December 4, 2022, and a gold medal in Le Relais, Quebec on January 21, 2023. Thenault’s three other World Cup medals were a bronze medal in Moscow, Russia on January 23, 2021, a gold medal in Almaty, Kazakhstan on March 13, 2021, and a silver medal in Le Relais on January 5, 2022.
Thenault won her Olympic bronze medal in the mixed team aerials event with Mina Fontaine of Magog, Quebec and Lewis Irving of Quebec City, Quebec at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. The silver medal for Thenault will give her confidence as she prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
