Maddie Szeryk leads the 2023 Drive On Championship

Maddie Szeryk of London, Ontario is the leader after 36 holes of the 2023 Drive On Championship in Grand Canyon, Arizona. She is tied with South Korea’s Jenny Shin and Thailand’s Moriya Jutanugarn at -12.

Szeryk shot a five-under par 67 in round one and then a seven-under par 65 in round two. In the opening round on Thursday, she had six birdies and one bogey. Szeryk birdied the first, second, 11th, 12th, 15th and 16th holes, and bogeyed the third hole. On Friday, Szeryk had six birdies, one eagle, and one bogey. She birdied the second, fifth, seventh, ninth, 11th and 13th holes. Szeryk then eagled the 14th hole, before bogeying the 17th hole.

There are 11 more golfers in contention. At -11 and in fourth place all alone is American Lilia Vu. Then there is a two-way tie for fifth place at -10. There you can find South Korea’s Narin An and American Alison Lee. There is also an eight-way for seventh place at -9. The golfers three strokes back are South Korea’s Jin Young Ko and Eun-Hee Ji, American Annie Park, France’s Celine Boutier, Denmark’s Emily Kristine Pedersen, England’s Georgia Hall, and China’s Xiaowen Yin and Ruoning Yin. Ko, Ji and Hall are major champions. Ji won the 2009 United States Open, Ko won the 2019 ANA Inspiration and 2019 Evian Masters, and Hall won the 2018 British Open.
