
Week eight is now complete in the Canadian Football League. On Sunday two Canadians recorded touchdowns for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in a 44-28 win over the Edmonton Elks. The two Tiger-Cats players with major scores were wide receivers Luther Hakunavanhu of Edmonton, Alberta and Kiondre Smith of Markham, Ontario.
Hakunavanhu and Smith both caught long bomb touchdowns from Tiger-Cats quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell. Hakunavanhu had a 66 yard converted touchdown catch with one minute and two seconds left in the first half to give the Tiger-Cats a 21-8 lead. Then with three minutes and nine seconds left in the third quarter, Smith caught a 59-yard touchdown pass from Mitchell to put the Tiger-Cats up 34-8.
In the game, Hakunavanhu had two catches for 83 yards, and Smith had two catches for 69 yards. Both Canadian receivers had one catch where they made the end zone, and one catch where they did not score a touchdown. The non-major score receptions went for 17 yards to Hakunavanhu and 10 yards to Smith.
On the season, Hakunavanhu has six catches for 131 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Smith has 25 catches for 373 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
