Two Canadian cowboys were victorious on Sunday in their respective events at the 2022 Calgary Stampede. Dakota Buttar of Estonia, Saskatchewan won the bull riding event and Logan Hay of Wildwood, Alberta won the saddle bronc.

In the bull riding, Buttar and Shane Proctor of Grand Coulee, Washington shared first place earnings of $31,250, instead of facing off again in another elimination round. Buttar and Proctor, as well as Alan DeSouza of Taubate, Brazil, and Jared Parsonage of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan were all bucked off their bull in Performance 11, and recorded zero points. Due to the fact no one could stay on their bull for eight seconds and post a score, they all went again. Buttar and Proctor then had identical scores of 88.5 points, DeSouza had 82.5 points, and Parsonage was bucked off again.

In the saddle bronc, Logan Hay posted the winning score of 89.5 points. Logan’s brother Dawson Hay of Wildwood, Alberta was second with 89 points.

Meanwhile in the Rangeland Derby chuckwagon racing, Kris Molle of Chauvin, Alberta won the title with a time of 1:13.48. Molle, who was sponsored by visitlethbridge.com, beat Layne MacGillivray of Halkirk, Alberta by the slimmest of margins. Molle beat MacGillivray by eight-one-hundredths of a second after a second place time of 1:13.56.
