Lightning left winger Brandon Hagel named NHL First Star of the Week

Tampa Bay Lightning left winger Brandon Hagel of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan has been named the National Hockey League First Star of the Week for the week from February 3-9, 2025. In four games, he had four goals and four assists for eight points.

Hagel was also a +10 as all eight of his points were even strength. He also had one game-winning goal, 10 shots on goal, nine hits and three blocked shots. Hagel’s game-winning goal came on February 6 in a 5-1 Lightning win over the Ottawa Senators. At 10:14 of the second period, the Lightning went up 2-1 after a goal from defenseman Ryan McDonagh and goaltender Andriy Vasilevskiy.

To begin the week, Hagel had one goal in a 4-3 Lightning win over the Senators on February 4. That was followed by another goal on February 6, two goals and two assists for four points on February 8 in a 6-3 Lightning win over the Detroit Red Wings, and two assists on February 9 in a 5-3 Lightning win over the Montreal Canadiens.

In 2024-25, Hagel has 26 goals and 36 assists for 62 points in 55 games. He is a +24 with 40 penalty minutes, seven power play points, six shorthanded points, three game-winning goals, 159 shots on goal, seven faceoff wins, 42 blocked shots, 43 hits, 20 takeaways, and 72 giveaways.

As for the Lightning, they have a record of 31 wins, 20 regulation losses and four losses in extra time. They have 66 points and are in third place in the Atlantic Division.
