Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Nikolaj Sorensen win ice dance bronze at the 2021 Rostelecom Cup

There is no doubt that the Canadian ice dance team of Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Nikolaj Sorensen of Montreal, Quebec are a team on the rise. On Saturday, Fournier Beaudry and Sorensen won their second ice dance medal in the 2021 International Skating Union Grand Prix of Figure Skating circuit when they won the bronze medal at the 2021 Rostelecom Cup in Sochi, Russia.

Fournier Beaudry and Sorensen posted a total score of 191.4 points. Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov of Russia won the gold medal with a score of 211.72 points. The Italian duo of Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri won the silver medal with a score of 203.71 points. Fournier Beaudry and Sorensen reached the podium by 1.46 points over Sara Hurtado and Kirill Khaliavin of Spain, who finished in fourth place with 189.94 points.

Earlier this season Fournier Beaudry and Sorensen won the bronze medal at Skate America in Las Vegas. They have now won four ISU Grand Prix medals. The other two came in 2019 at Skate America and the Cup of China. Despite the two bronze medals this year, it was not good enough for Fournier Beaudry and Sorensen to reach the Grand Prix Final this weekend in Osaka, Japan. Canada will be represented by Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier of Ottawa, Ontario in the ice dance.
