According to CBS Sports on Tuesday, the Seattle Kraken have named right winger Jordan Eberle of Regina, Saskatchewan the second captain in franchise history. He follows Mark Giordano of Toronto, Ontario, who was the Kraken captain for Seattle’s inaugural National Hockey League season before he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 20, 2022. The Kraken have not had a captain since, and before Tuesday was the only team in the NHL not to have had a captain.

Eberle is entering his fourth season with the Kraken. In 240 games with the Seattle organization, he had 58 goals and 94 assists for 152 points. Eberle is also a -21 with 65 penalty minutes, 36 power-play points, nine game-winning goals, 510 shots on goal, 72 faceoff wins, 89 blocked shots, 122 hits, 164 takeaways, and 89 giveaways.

An All-Star for the Kraken during the 2021-22 season, Eberle is the Kraken all-time leader in game-winning goals and hat tricks. His nine game-winning goals are tied with Alexander Wennberg. Meanwhile, Eberle is one of two Kraken players all-time to have a hat trick. The other is Jared McCann of Stratford, Ontario. Eberle had his hat trick on November 4, 2021 in a 5-2 Kraken over the Buffalo Sabres. McCann had his hat trick on January 14, 2023 in an 8-5 Kraken win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
