Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Jet Greaves of Cambridge, Ontario has been named the National Hockey League First Star of the Week. For the week from April 7-13, 2025, he had a record of three wins, zero losses, one shutout, a goals against average of 1.00, and a save percentage of .968.
Greaves began the week by making 39 saves on 41 shot attempts in a 3-2 Blue Jackets win over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday. He then sizzled on the weekend for the Blue Jackets against the Eastern Conference leading Washington Capitals. Greaves recorded his first NHL shutout on Saturday in a 7-0 Blue Jackets win, and then beat Washington again on Sunday by a score of 4-1. On Saturday, Greaves had 22 saves on 22 shots. Then on Sunday, Greaves had 30 saves on 31 shots.
For the season, Greaves has a record of five wins, two regulation losses and two losses in extra time, with a goals against average of 2.22 and a save percentage of .927. This is Greaves’s third season in Columbus.
More importantly due to Greaves’s outstanding play as of late, the Blue Jackets are in contention for a playoff spot. Columbus improved to a record of 38 wins, 33 regulation losses and nine losses in extra time for 85 points. They are four points back of the Montreal Canadiens, and would make the playoffs with regulation wins over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday and the New York Islanders on Thursday, and a Canadiens regulation loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday.
