
There has been one constant theme at the 2024 Calgary Stampede. That is the fact that Canadians are performing admirably in the saddle bronc. So far five Canadians have qualified for the Sunday Showdown, with a legitimate chance of two more joining them.
On Thursday, Canadian brothers finished first and third in the saddle bronc. Logan Hay of Wildwood was first and Dawson Hay of Wildwood was third.
Logan Hay posted a score of 89.5 points on Exciting Bubbles. In the process, he won $7,000. Wyatt Casper of Miami, Texas was in second place with a score of 89 points on Betrayed Cankaid. He won $5,500. Dawson Hay posted a score of 86.5 points on Trump Card. He won $4500. The other five Canadian saddle bronc riders who have qualified for the final day of the Calgary Stampede are Zeke Thurston of Big Valley, Alberta, Layton Green of Millarville, Alberta, Kolby Wanchuk of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Lucas Macza of High River, Alberta and Dawson Dahm of Duffield, Alberta.
One other Canadian cowboy got himself into Pool C contention on Thursday. Harley Cole of Okotoks, Alberta finished in third place in the steer wrestling with a time of 4.7 seconds. Bridger Anderson of Carrington, North Dakota and Trisyn Kalawaia of Hilo, Hawaii tied for first place at 4.1 seconds.
In the Rangeland Derby chuckwagon racing, Jason Glass of High River had the fastest time of 1:09.45. The aggregate leader is Chad Fike of Cremona, Alberta, with a time of 8:22.88.
