It has been a solid women’s tennis doubles year for Gabriela Dabrowski of Ottawa, Ontario. On Sunday, Dabrowski advanced to her fifth women’s doubles final of the season when she and Guiliana Olmos of Mexico reached the final two of the 2022 San Diego Open. Dabrowski and Olmos were beaten by the American duo of Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff, 1-6, 7-5, [10-4].

Dabrowski and Olmos have won twice together in 2022. They first won the Madrid Open as the second seed in May. They defeated Desirae Krawczyk of the United States and Demi Schuurs of the Netherlands in the final, 7-6, 5-7, [10-7]. Dabrowski and Olmos then beat Nicole Melichar-Martinez of the United States and Ellen Perez of Australia, 6-4, 6-4 in the Pan Pacific Open Final in Tokyo in September.

Dabrowski also won another women’s doubles title in 2022 alongside Luisa Stefani of Brazil at the Chennai Open in India in September. Dabrowski and Stefani beat Anna Blinkova of Russia and Natela Dzalamidze of Georgia in the final, 6-1, 6-2.

Pegula and Goff are elite singles players on the WTA circuit, and it is interesting to see them play doubles together. In fact, they are the top two American singles players in the world. Pegula is fifth in the world, and Gauff, who reached the 2022 French Open Final earlier this year, is seventh in the world. Pegula and Gauff have won three WTA events together in women’s doubles this year. They also won the Qatar Open and the Canadian Open in Toronto.
