Chase Claypool of Abbotsford, British Columbia had his best game of the 2022 National Football League regular season on Sunday. It came in the biggest NFL upset of the season.
Entering the game, the Steelers were a 9.5 point underdog, but came away with a 20-18 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Claypool led the Steelers in catches (seven), and receiving yards (96). Claypool’s touchdown catch was for six yards and came from Steelers quarterback Mitch Trubisky with nine minutes and 55 seconds left in the game. At the time, the Steelers went ahead 20-12.
Claypool now has 23 catches for 225 yards and one touchdown. For his career, he has 144 catches for 1958 yards and 12 touchdowns.
This was the second time this season the Steelers pulled off a huge upset. In week one they defeated the reigning American Football Conference champion Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 in overtime.
With the win, the Steelers improved to a record of two wins and four losses. Steelers rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett got the start against the Buccaneers, but left the game midway through the third quarter because of a concussion.
One reason why Tom Brady and the Buccaneers lost to the Steelers on Sunday was because they could not finish drives. Four times Buccaneers kicker Ryan Succop had to kick a field goal.
