Freddie Freeman named the National League Player of the Week

Canadian Freddie Freeman of the Los Angeles Dodgers was named the National League Player of the Week on Monday for the week from June 20-26. Freeman batted .440 with two home runs, 11 runs batted in, two doubles, one triple, six runs scored, an on base percentage of .533, and a slugging percentage of .840. The 11 runs batted in and .840 slugging percentage led the National League for the week. Freeman also led the senior circuit in on base plus slugging percentage (1.373) and times on base (16) according to Eric Stephen of SB Nation.

Freeman, who was born in the United States, but represents Canada internationally because his parents were born in Ontario, is batting .304 with eight home runs and 46 runs batted in during 72 games this season for Los Angeles. In 325 plate appearances and 283 at bats, Freeman has scored 47 runs and has 86 hits, 24 doubles, six stolen bases, 37 walks, a .388 on base percentage, a .488 slugging percentage, 138 total bases, and two sacrifice flies.

The Dodgers are at 45 wins and 27 losses, and are the second best team in the National League. The only team in the senior circuit that is better are the New York Mets at 47 wins and 27 losses. The Dodgers also lead the San Diego Padres by a game and a half in the National League West.
