Five top Canadians in 2024 March Madness

The National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Men’s Basketball tournament commences on Thursday. Here are the top five Canadian players, who averaged a minimum of 10 points per game this season.

Zach Edey 

The senior center from Purdue University is a native of Toronto, Ontario. He is the all-time leader in rebounds at Purdue University with 1234. In 2023-24, Edey is averaging 24.4 points per game, 11.7 rebounds per game, 2.2 blocks per game, and 2.1 assists per game. He has a field goal percentage of .619, three point percentage of .500, and free throw percentage of .716. Purdue is in the Midwest Region as the number one seed, and will play Grambling State Friday evening in Indianapolis.

Emanuel Miller

The senior forward from Texas Christian University is a native of Markham, Ontario. Miller is averaging 15.9 points per game, 5.9 rebounds per game, 2.7 assists per game, 1.1 steals per game, a field goal percentage of .487, three point percentage of .382, and free throw percentage of .819 this season. The Texas Christian University Horned Frogs are the ninth seed in the Midwest Region, and will play Utah State Friday evening in Indianapolis.

Ryan Nembhard 

The junior guard from Gonzaga University is a native of Aurora, Ontario. In 2023-24, Nembhard is averaging 12.9 points per game, 6.7 assists per game, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game, along with a field goal percentage of .453, three-point percentage of .323, and free throw percentage in .745. The Gonzaga Bulldogs are the fifth seed in the Midwest Region and will face McNeese State University Thursday night in Salt Lake City.

Emanuel Sharp 

The Toronto guard is a sophomore at the University of Houston. In 2023-24, Sharp is averaging 12.2 points per game, 3.7 rebounds per game, 1.5 steals per game, a field goal percentage of .368, three-point percentage of .358, and free throw percentage of .857. The University of Houston Cougars are the first seed in the South Region and will play Longwood University Friday evening in Memphis.

Quincy Guerrier

The native of Montreal, Quebec is a senior forward with the University of Illinois. In 2023-24, Guerrier is averaging 10 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game, with a field goal percentage of .484, three-point percentage of .387, and a free throw percentage of .571. The University of Illinois Fighting Illini are the the third seed in the East Region and will play Morehead State Thursday afternoon in Omaha, Nebraska.
