Erin Ambrose named PWHL First Star of the Week

Canadian Olympic gold medalist Erin Ambrose of Keswick, Ontario has been named the Professional Women’s Hockey League Fist Star of the Week for the week from April 15 to 21, 2024 according to the PWHL website on Monday. Ambrose, who plays defence for Montreal, had one goal and four assists for five points in two games.

Ambrose began the week with four assists in a 4-3 Montreal win over Minnesota on April 18. Ambrose assisted on two goals by Kristin O’Neill of Mississauga, Ontario, and one goal each by Canadian Olympic gold medalists Marie-Philip Poulin of Beauceville, Quebec, and Laura Stacey of Mississauga, Ontario. Ambrose then had one goal from Stacey and Poulin in a 3-2 Montreal loss to Toronto on April 20. Poulin, Ambrose, and Stacey all won a gold medal for Canada at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. Poulin also won Olympic gold at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. 

This season, Ambrose has four goals and 11 assists for 15 points. She is a +3 with four penalty minutes, one power-play goal, and 42 shots on goal.

Montreal is currently in second place in the PWHL Standings. They have a record of eight regulation wins, three overtime wins, five regulation losses and five losses in extra time for 35 points. Montreal is three points back of first place Toronto.
