The 2024 National Football League season is one week old and there are 11 Canadians on active NFL rosters. Let’s take a look who they are.
Matthew Bergeron
An offensive lineman from Montreal, Quebec, Bergeron is in his second season with the Atlanta Falcons.
Chase Brown
A running back from London, Ontario, Brown is in his second season with the Cincinnati Bengals. In 2023, he had 43 carries for 179 rushing yards, along with 14 catches for 156 receiving yards and one touchdown catch. Brown’s touchdown catch was 54 yards and came in a 34-14 Bengals win over the Indianapolis Colts on December 10, 2023. In 2024, Brown had three catches for 12 yards and three rushes for 11 yards.
Neville Gallimore
The defensive lineman from Ottawa, Ontario is in his first season with the Los Angeles Rams after four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. This season in Los Angeles, he had two assisted tackles. Last season with the Cowboys, he had 16 combined tackles (eight solo tackles and eight assisted tackles), two tackles for a loss, two quarterback hits, one sack and one pass deflection. One tackle for a loss came in a 38-3 Cowboys win over the New England Patriots on October 1, 2023. One pass deflection came in a 43-20 Cowboys win over the Los Angeles Rams on October 29, 2023. One sack, two quarterback hits, and one tackle for a loss came in a 49-17 Cowboys win over the New York Giants on November 12, 2023.
Michael Hoecht
A linebacker from Oakville, Ontario, Hoecht is in his fourth season with the Los Angeles Rams. Last year he had 81 combined tackles (45 solo tackles and 36 assisted tackles), 11 quarterback hits, seven tackles for a loss, six sacks, two pass deflections and one forced fumble. The pass deflections came in a 29-23 Rams win over the Indianapolis Colts on October 1, and in a 28-20 Rams win over the Washington Commanders on December 17. In 2024, Hoecht had one solo tackle for a loss.
Jevon Holland
The safety from Coquitlam, British Columbia is in his fourth season with the Miami Dolphins. In 2023, he had 74 combined tackles (52 solo tackles and 22 assisted tackles), three tackles for a loss, one pick six for 99 yards, four pass deflections, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery for four yards. The interception return for a touchdown came in a 34-13 Dolphins win over the New York Jets on November 24, 2023. In 2024, Holland has eight combined tackles (three solo tackles and five assisted tackles), one pass deflection and one forced fumble. The pass deflection and forced fumble this season came in a 20-17 Dolphins win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 8.
Chuba Hubbard
The running back from Edmonton, Alberta is in his fourth season with the Carolina Panthers. In 2023, Hubbard had 238 rushes for 902 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns, along with 39 catches for 233 receiving yards. This season, he has six rushes for 14 yards.
Deane Leonard
The defensive back from Calgary, Alberta is in his third season with the Los Angeles Chargers. In 2023, Leonard had 28 combined tackles (22 solo tackles and six assisted tackles), one tackle for a loss, three pass deflections and one forced fumble. In 2024, Leonard has one solo tackle, which came in the Chargers’s 22-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders a week ago.
Josh Palmer
The wide receiver from Toronto, Ontario is in his fourth season with the Chargers. In 2023, Palmer had 38 catches for 581 receiving yards and two touchdown catches, and one rush for six yards. In 2024, he has two catches for 15 yards.
Tavius Robinson
The linebacker from Guelph, Ontario is in his second season with the Baltimore Ravens. In 2023, he had 26 combined tackles (13 solo tackles and 13 assisted tackles), two tackles for a loss, one quarterback hit, and one sack. Robinson’s first tackle for a loss came in a 28-3 Ravens win over the Cleveland Browns on October 1, 2023. One tackle for a loss, sack and quarterback hit came in a 34-20 Ravens win over the Cincinnati Bengals on November 16, 2023.
Nathan Shepherd
The defensive tackle from Ajax, Ontario is in his second season with the New Orleans Saints after five seasons with the New York Jets. In 2023, he had 50 combined tackles (27 solo tackles and 23 assisted tackles), four tackles for a loss, eight quarterback hits and 3.5 sacks. In the Saints’s first game of the 2024 season, a 47-10 New Orleans win over the Carolina Panthers, Shepherd had four combined tackles (three solo tackles and one assisted tackle), and one tackle for a loss.
Benjamin St-Juste
The defensive back from Montreal is in his fourth season with Washington. In 2023, he had 67 combined tackles (52 solo tackles and 15 assisted tackles), one tackle for a loss, one quarterback hit, one sack, one interception, two forced fumbles, and 17 pass deflections. The interception came in a 24-16 Commanders win over the Atlanta Falcons on October 15, 2023. In 2024, St-Juste has five solo tackles and one pass deflection.
