The eight teams have now been determined for the Championship Round of the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier in Kingston, Ontario. They are Team Canada, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Team Wildcard, Ontario, Northern Ontario and Newfoundland.

The only team undefeated so far is Edmonton, Alberta’s Brendan Bottcher, who has a perfect record of seven wins and zero losses. Bottcher will have a rather tough test on Thursday however as he faces Saskatchewan’s Matt Dunstone and Team Canada’s Kevin Koe.

On Wednesday it was determined that no tiebreakers into the championship round would be required. In Pool A, Ontario’s John Epping (4-3) got the fourth spot all alone when he beat Jamie Koe and the Northwest Territories 11-8, and New Brunswick (3-4) lost 9-4 to Team Wildcard’s Mike McEwen of Brandon. In Pool B, Northern Ontario’s Brad Jacobs (4-3) got the fourth spot when he beat Nunavut 10-3 and Manitoba beat Nova Scotia (3-4) by a score of 9-7.

As the teams carry their records to date into the championship round, there are three teams with a record of six wins and only one loss. They are Saskatchewan, Newfoundland and Team Wildcard. Canada and Manitoba are both at five wins and two losses. There is no report yet on what two games will be televised by TSN on Thursday as the Championship Round begins.
