Derek Gee wins 2025 O Gran Camino

Derek Gee of Ottawa, Ontario has won the most prestigious cycling event of his career on Sunday. He was victorious at the O Gran Camino in the northwest region of Spain.

Gee, who was representing the Israel-Premier Tech team won with a winning time of 15 hours, 21 minutes and 23 seconds. Davide Piganzoli of Italy finished in second place with a time of 15 hours, 21 minutes and 58 seconds. Magnus Cort of Denmark finished in third place with a time of 15 hours, 22 minutes and one second. Gee reached the podium by one minute and 15 seconds. Ivan Cobo of Spain finished in fourth place with a time of 15 hours, 22 minutes and 38 seconds.

Gee won stage three of the O Gran Camino on Friday. He posted a winning time of 23 minutes and 17 seconds. He was 17 seconds faster than Piganzoli.

This was the second straight year that Gee has won a stage event at a prestigious cycling event. Last year he won the third stage of the Criterium du Dauphine in southeastern France. Gee ended up in third place at the Criterium du Dauphine behind the winner, Primoz Roglic of Slovenia and the runner-up, Matteo Jorgensen of the United States. The victory in Spain will give Gee confidence as he prepares for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
